“The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work.”
– Vincent “Vince” Lombardi
On so many levels, this quote seems appropriate. Yes, football season is kicking off in communities throughout the Golden Isles, so pointing to this coaching legend for inspiration is fitting. At the same time, Lombardi’s famed quote hits close to home, or rather, close to our kitchen.
For months, we at The Farmer and The Larder have worked to put the blueprints together for our new downtown Brunswick venue. And finally, three weeks ago, we opened our doors to a huge crowd of curious eaters. From the looks of the empty plates and bowls left over after our opening. We’d say the night was the first of many successes we’ve seen since the community welcomed us with open arms.
In the weeks that have followed since our grand opening, we’ve rocketed into our plans for introducing innovative, local and artisanal food, retail items and educational opportunities to our coastal community. Our mission with the new gastronomic gallery, located at 1523 Newcastle Street in Historic Brunswick, is to promote healthy and sustainable living, by bringing homegrown and homemade foodstuffs, culinary experiences and goods to your table.
To do that, we’ve mapped out a multi-fold business model. Here, you’ll find a creative food-based retail section, tables for Sunday brunches, Thursday evening EAT dinners, and grab-and-go meals during the week, as well as hands-on culinary courses to show home chefs a range of new food exploration journeys, from how to create a master crème brûlée, to how to utilize the fresh seafood from our regional waters.
Owned and operated by CheFarmer Matthew Raiford and Food Alchemist Jovan Sage, the crew at the F&L are excited to say the past several weeks have been a great reward for our months- and months- of planning and prepping to serve our coastal community.
As the weeks move on, we can’t wait to share with you the culinary world of wonder right at your fingertips. Stay tuned to our Facebook page, follow us on Instagram, sign up for our emails, as well as read up on this blog, for updates on menus, community events and other F&L news.
Cheers to many, many more dining adventures!
